Heinrich Maran was appointed as the head coach of the Irish men’s team, replacing Graham Ford, who resigned in November last year.
The 40-year-old man born in South Africa will take office in March, but he needs to obtain a work permit and has agreed to sign a three-year preliminary contract.
“I feel very humble and honored to be appointed as the head coach of the Irish men’s team,” Maran said.
“We have an exciting team that proves that they have the ability to compete with the best players in the world. This is an exciting challenge and something our family is looking forward to very much.
“A lot of credit goes to Graham Ford, who has done a great job in the past four years. We have established some important cornerstones, and I believe we can move on.”
Maran previously served as a coach for the New Zealand men’s team and has been the head coach of the Auckland Aces team since 2019.
