WWE enters 2022, looking for a strong start. After skipping the PPV event in December, the promotion started a sensation on New Year’s Day because it launched a new event called WWE Day 1. It all started at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where almost all champions are in action.
Two world championship games have been confirmed. Big E competed with Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens for the WWE championship in a deadly four-a-side competition, while Brock Lesnar challenged Roman Reigns for the world championship title. More matches will be played in the next few weeks, and it is expected that all the men’s and women’s advancement to the world championship titles will be played on the cards.
As with all major WWE events, the first day will be broadcast live on Peacock. The main card will start at 8pm Eastern Time, and the performance will begin one hour ago.
Let’s take a look at what we know on WWE Day 1—and what we expect.
WWE Day 1 Tournament
WWE Champion-Big E (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley: In late October, Rollins won a ladder on Raw, which guaranteed his future title. Because Big E was bundled with Roman Reigns and Survivor Series, it was put on hold for most of the time before November. Rollins then announced that he would win the title on the first day, only to see Owens-he recently turned around after attacking the big E-facing the big E, stipulating that Owens will enter the game with a victory. Owens was able to provoke Rollins to attack him in the game, resulting in Owens being named the champion due to disqualification and confirming that he participated in the first day of the championship. Lashley was angry at being excluded and defeated Rollins, Owens and Big E in a singles match one night, winning his place and turning the game into a deadly foursome.
Universal Championship-Roman Rains (c) vs. Brock Lesner: With the help of The Usos, Reigns defeated Lesnar at Crown Jewel. An angry Leissner attacked SmackDown, and this attack continued to WWE official Adam Pierce. Lesner was subsequently suspended for his actions. After Sami Zayn won a royal battle on SmackDown to determine the next challenger to the Reigns title, it was announced that Lesnar would return to SmackDown on December 3. Reigns manipulated Zayn to immediately shoot Reigns on SmackDown, and Lesnar won the first day of the shot. Lesnar then eliminated Zayn before the game to ensure that Reigns won easily, and Lesnar wanted to start this year’s rematch.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship-Usos (c) vs. The New Day: Helping Reigns before the Big E survivor series, Usos defeated Kofi Kingston and destroyed Xavier Woods’s throne, scepter, and crown. With Kingston’s return, the two New Day members are looking for revenge—and another championship reign—when they face off with Usos on Day 1.
Raw Women’s Championship-Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan: Since the suspension of production and the birth of her first child, Lynch’s performance has been very good, and she has played very well with almost everyone who stepped into the boxing ring. Morgan failed to beat Lynch in the Raw Championship, but challenged for a rematch. Lynch did not accept at first, but attacked Morgan, including stepping on Morgan’s arm, because it was fixed between the ring steps and the ring posts. Once Morgan got the appropriate compromise, Lynch accepted the rematch.
Edge vs. The Miz: When Edge returned to Raw, he listed various potential opponents, but did not mention Miz by name. This brings Miz, who is returning after dancing with the stars for a while. Mitz rejected the one-on-one opportunity, but the two eventually agreed to the first day of the match. After agreeing to the game, Miz added fun to things by hitting Edge with Skull-Crushing Finale.
Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss: The two will fight after a strange build, which includes trying to remove McIntyre’s sword from the table and a miracle in the 34th Street game on Christmas Eve.
WWE Day 1 Forecast
SmackDown Women’s Championship-Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Toni Storm: Like Lynch, Fryer is a champion who needs a new challenger. WWE seems to have chosen Storm for this role. In recent weeks, Storm and Flair have confused it, including Flair hit Storm in the face with two pies in the post-Thanksgiving version of SmackDown. Since Flair has no other options, it is expected that Storm will have the opportunity to participate in the championship.
