In the draw held on Thursday, England faced a difficult draw in the European League of Nations in the 2022-23 season after being in the same group with European champions Italy and Germany.
England defeated Germany in the knockout stage of the European Cup earlier this year, but lost to Italy in a penalty shoot-out at Wembley in the final. England will also face Hungary, which played twice in the World Cup qualifiers.
The national league champions France are in a group with Denmark, Croatia and Austria. They advanced to the first division in the previous competition.
Runner-up Spain will face Iberian neighboring Portugal, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
Belgium, ranked number one in the world, will face the Netherlands, Poland and Wales.
