Australia captain Pat Cummins said on Wednesday that Jay Richardson will replace the injured pacemaker Josh Hartswood, but opener David Warner has been allowed to play against England in the Ashes Test the next night.
Hazlewood suffered a side strain during the nine wickets victory in Gabba’s first test in Australia and was therefore excluded from Adelaide.
Richardson in two tests defeated the uncapped speed veteran Michael Nether and took a place in Australia’s offense with Cummins, Mitchell Stark and spinner Nathan Lyon.
Richardson generated a lot of speed from the 178-meter frame, and he rejoined the team nearly three years after an impressive series against Sri Lanka in the first series in 2019.

The 25-year-old player suffered a setback in his international career as he dislocated his shoulder in a defensive accident against Pakistan’s one-day team shortly after his debut test.
But he returned to his best form with the Sheffield Shields this season and won a place in the Ashes.
“He participated in two excellent tests and was about to participate in the Ashes Series and the World Cup before his shoulder injury,” Cummins told reporters at the Adelaide Oval on the eve of the test.
“He worked very hard and had a good start in Western Australia this year. We think he is being fired.”
The left-handed Warner suffered several physical blows to his ribs when he was 94 years old in Brisbane and suffered some discomfort at the online conference on Tuesday.

However, Cummins said that if necessary, the 35-year-old will get through with the help of analgesic injections.
“Knowing David, he won’t miss this. When the adrenaline soars, he will be fine. It won’t get worse like a broken bone,” Cummins said.
There are no other changes in Gabba’s dominant XI, giving Australia a 1-0 lead in the five test series.
Australia retained the urn in England in 2019, where it defeated Joe Root’s team 2-2.
