Richmond, California, December 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ – Chevron Lummus Global LLC (CLG) and Saudi Aramco announced that they have signed a joint cooperation and licensing agreement to jointly develop and license Saudi Aramco’s Heavy Oil Processing Initiative (HOPI+) technology.

HOPI+ aims to use CLG’s LC-FINING platform (collectively referred to as LC-HOPI+) to achieve a relatively higher conversion rate of vacuum residue and other available heavy feedstocks (including incremental crude oil). The LC-HOPI+ innovation process is expected to help minimize capital expenditures and operating expenditures, and significantly increase the profit margin of bottom-of-the-bucket upgrades.
