Former Australia captain Rich Ponting chose Usman Kawaja as a substitute for David Warner to prevent the latter from being excluded from the game due to injury. In Australia’s first game, Warner did not participate in Friday’s game after being hit in the chest.
Cricket.com.au quoted Ponting as saying that Kavaja could replace Warner if needed. The former Australian team’s opener commented: “If (Warner) can’t play, I think it’s probably Kawaja who will come on and open the shot. Although he didn’t do this in his last few years in Queensland, he did it for Australia before. .”
“He is obviously in a very good shape, so I think this might be the way to go. I think he has enough experience, but he hasn’t done this for a while, which is a bit worrying,” Ponting added. .
The former Australian captain added that it is worrying that Warner did not play at all. He further stated that when he hits or hits the ball in the second game, everyone will better understand his state.
“I noticed that after he was hit, he came out after a break, and you can see that he had a little (chest) guard in that area. I was a little worried at the time because I had never seen him wear a bra before,” Ponting said.
“Even if it’s just a bruise, I think he will defend on the court, so it may be more than we heard,” Punter thinks.
Warner missed the game with 100 points and 6 points in Australia’s first game. He was out of 176 games in 94 games and was caught by Ben Stokes in Ollie Robinson. The Australians scored 425 points in their first game, responding to England’s 147 points, as Travis Hyde topped the list with 152 points.
England played better in the second game. Captain Qorut remained undefeated in 86 games and unbeaten in 80 games because the visiting team ended the third day of the first Ashes Test 220-2. However, England is still 58 points behind Australia.
