After the International Olympic Committee (IOC) began to determine the core sport of this grand sporting event, the International Cricket Council (ICC) did not lose hope to list cricket as an “additional sport” for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee named 28 sports in the “initial plan” for the 2028 Olympics on Thursday, including skateboarding, surfing and sports climbing. Boxing, weightlifting and the modern pentathlon are excluded, and various international federations will have time to meet certain standards by 2023 to secure their seats in the 2028 Olympics.

The list will be voted on at the International Olympic Committee meeting in Beijing in February next year. This is likely to be a form.
The host city of Los Angeles can also propose to include other sports in the 2028 Olympic Games in 2023. The International Criminal Court hopes that cricket will become one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
Baseball, softball and American football may bid for other sports for the 2028 Olympics. “The host city’s process of selecting additional sports will begin next year (2023), and we hope that cricket will be a part of it,” an ICC board member who understands this process told PTI In the case of anonymity.
“We know it will be tough (including cricket as an additional sport). There is no guarantee that we are competing with some other great sports to try to get a place in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”

In August, ICC expressed its intention to apply for the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, which was also supported by the richest board of directors in the world, BCCI.
ICC has also established an Olympic working group, which will work to make this sport part of the Olympic Games starting in 2028.
“Our sport is united behind this bid. We see the Olympics as part of the long-term future of cricket. We have more than 1 billion fans worldwide, and nearly 90% of them want to see cricket at the Olympics. Ball,” ICC Chairman Greg Barclay said at the time.
In 2024, the International Olympic Committee will decide on additional projects proposed by the organizers of the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Following Tokyo and Paris (2024), the Los Angeles Olympic Games will become the third host country and will propose additional sports in its plan.

Six new sports—baseball, softball, karate, skateboarding, sports climbing, and surfing—are shown as additional events at the Tokyo Olympics. Surfing and breakdancing will be added to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
As part of the IOC’s “2020 Agenda” reforms, the host city is allowed to propose additional sports, aimed at helping the host country’s most popular sports gain exposure through the Olympics.
By 2016, the Olympic Games had a limit of 28 events, but it was cancelled by the International Olympic Committee in the 2014 decision. Now, each Summer Olympics will be limited to 10,500 athletes and 310 events.
The International Olympic Committee has a list of major sports, which almost always appear in the Olympics.
