FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Spain chooses Mendes to replace Pino

Before the decisive World Cup qualifier, Spain summoned Blaise Mendes to replace the injured Jeremiah Pino.

Pino is the third player to withdraw from the team due to injury before the European qualifiers in Group B against Greece and Sweden.

On Sunday, Pino suffered a muscle injury in Villarreal’s 1-0 defeat of Getafe in the Spanish League.

Spain coach Luis Enrique has had to replace Barcelona players Anzu Fati and Eric Garcia as their team drew 3-3 against Celta Vigo on Saturday Injured.

Fati was replaced by Raul de Thomas and Garcia was replaced by Diego Llorente.

Spain is two points behind Sweden, the leader of the group. La Roja will play third-placed Greece on Thursday and will host Sweden on Sunday.
