Head coach Fernando Santos told reporters on Wednesday that Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva will miss Thursday’s away game against Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers due to “muscle problems”.
Silva is in very good form with Manchester City this season. He played an important role in the Premier League derby against his opponent Manchester United at the weekend. He missed training on Monday and was absent on Tuesday.
“I don’t count on him. He has muscle problems. I don’t think he has the conditions to participate in this game. We think he will be fine in Serbia (Sunday),” Santos said.
