Head coach Aliou Cisse said that Sadio Mane was replaced in Senegal’s World Cup qualifiers on Thursday not because of anything serious, but as a preventive measure.
The Liverpool star clashed with the Togolese defender in the 1-1 draw with Togo and left the field after 27 minutes.

He seemed to have either injured his ribs or his hips, but the coach did not explain further.
But Cisse did tell reporters: “There is nothing wrong. We took him out only as a precaution, not for serious things.”
Senegal has won the group stage and advanced to the decisive March playoffs to compete for a place in the World Cup in Qatar. It needs a final equalizer to avoid defeat.
“The departure of Sadio Mane really made us a little unstable, and he did give us something different,” the coach added at the press conference.
Senegal’s qualifier against Congo at home in Dakar on Sunday ended, but it is not clear whether Mane will participate in that game.
The 29-year-old Mane returned from an international mission in Senegal in 2017 with a hamstring injury and a broken thumb in 2018.
