The Sri Lanka Cricket Team (SLC) said on Monday that it has strengthened the personal safety of all cricket players participating in the country’s ongoing T20 league in light of a illegitimate crime committed by a Sri Lankan in Sialkot, Pakistan.
More than a dozen Pakistani players including Shoaib Malik, Mohammed Amir, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez are participating in the T20 league.
A senior SLC official told reporters that the safety net has been expanded not only for Pakistani players, but also for all cricketers participating in the five-team Lanka Premier League (LPL) starting on Sunday and ending on December 23.

Players from all top cricket countries including Namibia and the United Arab Emirates participated in the competition. But there are no Indian players.
Last week, a Sri Lankan expatriate who served as the general manager of a factory was lynched by a mob, which aroused local outrage.
