On Wednesday, UEFA reduced Hungary’s penalties for offensive fans for misconduct during the European Cup. In June, the closure of two games in the National League was halved to a home game without fans.
Despite more racist abuse and violence by Hungarian fans in the World Cup qualifiers this year, UEFA made a ruling. At the 2020 European Cup, Hungarian fans racially insulted opposing players and held up anti-gay banners in the Budapest and Munich games.

Hungary was suspended for two years due to the threat of further closure of the stadium, and UEFA also maintained a fine of 100,000 euros (113,000 U.S. dollars). The postponed UEFA penalty does not apply to the World Cup qualifiers in September and October because they are official FIFA matches.
In September, after Hungarian fans racially discriminated against black English players at the Puskas Arena, FIFA banned the fans when Albania played in Budapest next month.
FIFA also imposed a fine of 200,000 Swiss francs (215,000 US dollars) on the Hungarian Football Association, led by FIFA and UEFA Vice President Sandor Csanyi.
