Famous U.S. Democratic Party Activist Convicted of Death for “Party and Game” Reuters

LOS ANGELES (Reuters)-A wealthy former U.S. Democratic activist was accused of providing a lethal dose of methamphetamine to two men he invited to have sex in his suburban Los Angeles home. He was convicted on nine federal criminal charges on Tuesday.

The 66-year-old Edback was convicted after a nine-day trial in the U.S. District Court. The prosecutor said he invited men to “party and play” sex games, in which he distributed drugs or injects to his partner poison.

Two of the men died of overdose in Buck’s West Hollywood apartment: 26-year-old Jermel Moore on July 27, 2017 and 55-year-old Timothy Dean on January 2019.

Buck is an outstanding local and national figure in Democratic politics. He has contributed to the campaigns of President Barack Obama and President Hillary Clinton. He will face more than 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced.

The prosecutor said during the trial that the wealthy political donor’s goal was homeless or other disadvantaged men, most of whom were black, to attend his “party and game” meetings. Buck did not testify for his defense in the trial.

The jurors found him guilty of two counts of distributing methamphetamine leading to death, four counts of distributing methamphetamine, one count of maintaining a drug-related establishment, and two counts of inducing interstate trade into prostitution.
