BRUSSELS (Reuters)-The second highest court in Europe on Wednesday dismissed Ryanair’s challenge to the state aid granted to Lufthansa subsidiary Austrian Airlines and approved by the European Union’s competition regulator.
The general court in Luxembourg stated: “In order to compensate Austria for damages caused by cancellation or rescheduling of flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the assistance provided by Austria to Austrian Airlines is compatible with the internal market.”
The case is T-677/20 Ryanair & Laudamotion v Commission (Austrian Airlines; Covid-19).
