(Reuters)-According to the Washington Post, the Washington football team plans to announce its new name and new logo in 2022 https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/07/10/washington-football- team-future-jason-Wright Saturday, about a year later, the National Football League (NFL) franchise gave up its previous name after years of outcry.
Club chairman Jason Wright told the newspaper that the club will continue to use its long-term use of wine red and gold. Team owner Dan Snyder has previously stated that the team plans to move into a new stadium in 2027.
After long criticizing this as an offensive racial slander against Native Americans, the team cancelled the previous nickname a year ago.
A spokesperson for the team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The new name and logo will appear during the upheaval of the franchise. After an independent investigation confirmed widespread allegations of bullying and sexual harassment, the NFL fined $10 million earlier this month.
