Former women’s champion Bailey was injured in training and is expected to be absent from the game for nine months

The first WWE Women’s Grand Slam champion will be suspended before 2022. WWE announced on Friday that Bailey was injured in a training session and is expected to be suspended for approximately 9 months.

Bayley will compete with current SmackDown women’s champion Bianca Belair in the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on July 18 for the title. WWE announced that it will announce a replacement challenger in the SmackDown version on Friday.

Bailey had an incredible year in 2020, maintaining her SmackDown title for most of the year until the end of 380 days in late October. She also became half of the women’s doubles champion with Sasha Banks, and became one of the true main players of promotion after successfully completing the heel turn. Her final feud with Banks was named the best feud of 2020 by CBS Sports.

Bailey also participated in the NXT and Raw Women’s Championships, which made her one of the most successful members of the women’s locker room in WWE history.

The nine-month recovery period will allow Bailey to line up for the WrestleMania 38 competition, which will be held on April 3, 2021 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
