Serena Williams shared that she will not participate in the Olympics this year

With the Olympics approaching, fans all over the world are happy to see their favorite athletes participate in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. However, they don’t expect to see Serena Williams as one of the people participating in the Olympics this summer. At the Wimbledon press conference, the tennis legend revealed that she will not participate in the tournament this year.

She did not explain why she did not participate in the competition, but when asked, she did say: “I am actually not on the Olympic roster. Not what I know. If so, then I shouldn’t be involved.”

When the reporter continued to inquire about her decision not to participate in the competition, she continued: “I made the Olympic decision for many reasons. I don’t want to participate today, maybe another day.” When asked if it would be difficult not to participate in the competition this year, she concluded. : “I haven’t thought about it. In the past, it was a wonderful place for me, but I really didn’t think about it. So I will never think about it.”

according to CBS NewsUS Tennis Association spokesperson Chris Widmeyer said: “Ultimately, the decision to participate in the Olympics is personal. As we emerge from the pandemic, we recognize and respect the personal decision of our top athletes to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. Although we fully support the International Olympic Committee and (International Tennis Federation) and encourage our athletes to participate, we recognize that in this special period, some athletes may choose not to participate for personal reasons.”

Although Serena did not explain why she decided not to participate in this year’s Olympics, many of her supporters have been applauding for what she did best for her.

Many people may remember, Naomi Osaka Has been withdrawing from the game to take care of her mental health. So far, she has withdrawn from the French Open, the Berlin Championships and Wimbledon, but is expected to participate in the Olympics.
