The judge also rejected “a request for a hearing on the possible misconduct of a juror, saying that Xiao Wan’s lawyer failed to prove that the juror provided false testimony during the jury selection.”
According to reports, the prosecution has requested Shavin to be sentenced to 30 years in prison, which is 10 years less than the maximum sentence.
Soon after the sentence was pronounced, a federal grand jury charged the four former Minneapolis police officers involved in the death of George Floyd. According to court documents obtained by CNN, the jury accused the officers of violating Freud’s constitutional rights.
