Most industry-sponsored drugs in CTCL’s active clinical development are in phase II, and only one drug is in phase III. CTCL therapies under development focus on various goals. The largest proportion of pipeline drugs under development is intravenous administration, and the rest are being tested in oral, topical and intratumoral preparations.
The upcoming high-impact drug events in the CTCL field include the results of first-line phase II trials of remipristat, AFM13, and IPH4102.
The overall probability of approval for phase I hematology assets is 9.2%, while the average probability of a drug progressing from phase III is 60%. It takes an average of 9.4 years for a drug to go from phase I to approval, while it takes 9.6 years for the entire field of oncology.
The distribution of clinical trials in phases I-IV shows that most CTCL trials are in the early and middle stages of development, 88% of the trials are in phase I-II, and only 12% are in phase III-IV.
The United States leads the world in the number of CTCL clinical trials. Germany leads the major European markets, while Japan tops the list in Asia.
The clinical trial activities in the CTCL field are dominated by completed trials. Bristol Myers Squibb has completed the largest number of CTCL clinical trials, with six trials. Bristol Myers Squibb also leads the industry with the highest total number of CTCL clinical trials, followed by Merck.
