South African legend AB de Villiers predicts something big over the franchise.
SRH’s Biggest Deal:
SunRisers Hyderabad is a team of the IPL who have not performed well for the past few years. They won the last trophy in 2016. After that, they lost their form. The team went through a lot over a few years. Captaincy has always been a concern for the franchise. Ahead of the upcoming IPL, they wanted a player who can lead the team from the front.
SRH came to the auction with a big purse. They were charged up since the start. Their biggest purchase was Pat Cummins. The franchise bought the Aussie skipper with a whopping amount of 20.50 crore. Their other tactical buy was Travis Head. this Aussie batter performed exceptionally well in the World Cup final. SRH bought Travis Head for 6.8 crore. They got an amazing deal Wanindu Hasaranga. RCB released him ahead of the auction. It was an excellent opportunity for SRH. The franchise bought Hasaranga for 1.5 crore.
AB de Villiers’ Prediction:
Ahead of the IPL 2024, SunRisers Hyderabad made a powerful team. The squad is looking strong. While analyzing the facts, AB de Villiers talked about SRH’s team. He said, “ One of the biggest steals of the IPL. Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan leg-spinner for ₹1.5 crore. That guy wins games. Every second game he plays, he does something special. This team was one of my favorite squads last season. They have only added to the squad with Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Unadkat, Hasaranga.”

He’s got a very good leadership brain on his head. I think he’ll do better this season and has a very good squad to work with. I don’t think the eight overseas players being big stars is a problem. They have a very good squad, well-balanced. I think they are going to make the knockouts this year,” the former Proteas captain concluded.”
