Introducing the Impact Player Rule

The Board of Control for Cricket in india has declared that all teams will be permitted to field Impact Players in the next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Notably, the new phenomenon was introduced in the previous edition of the competition, but there were some issues because teams could only bring in players before the 1 4th over the match.

However, as in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League and the existing Tamil Nadu Premier League, teams will be free to introduce Impact Players whenever they wish in the forthcoming edition. Teams can now name four impact players before the toss and can use any of them during the game.

Notably, the 2018 edition of the T20 event is scheduled to begin on October 16, but the schedule has not yet been released. Meanwhile, the tournament’s sites must be finalized because the ODI World Cup will be held concurrently.

Aside from this significant milestone, the BCCI has also confirmed that the Indian squad will compete in the forthcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou in September-October. According to The Hindu, a second-string India side will compete in the game while the main team prepares for the forthcoming ODI World Cup, which is set to begin on October 5.

BCCI Said

“Through effective planning, communication, and coordination, the BCCI aims to navigate those challenges successfully and contribute to the national cause by fielding a team in both men’s and women’s categories in line with the Government of India’s directions,” the board said.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan is expected to return and captain the team in the Asian Games, according to prior reports. Because all of the senior cricketers would be unavailable for selection, Dhawan’s return is expected. NCA chief VVS Laxman is expected to go with the squad, which is expected to be named next month.
