Chennai Super Kings completed a comfortable victory over Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs today. With this victory, there have not been many shuffles in the Orange Cap. However, a few noticeable changes did happen.
Ruturaj and Mayers dominate
Ruturaj Gaikwad has carried his good form into his second game and has managed to keep his first position back. He played a rapid inning of 57 runs from 31 balls at the top to set the tone for CSK’s innings, which eventually helped them to get to 217 runs in 20 overs. This exhilarating inning included a huge six that put a dent in the sponsor’s car. He played a formidable role in CSK’s win over LSG.
Kyle Mayers also continued his domination and whipped Lucknow Super Giants’ fastest fifty in just 21 balls. At one point, it felt he would steal the Orange Cap away from Ruturaj Gaikwad but an amazing catch by Devon Conway ensured that he could not do much damage. His strong effort went in vain as Lucknow lost to Chennai.
Pooran strikes back
After slipping down, Nicholas Pooran has found his way back into the top 10. He has pushed Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill down to the seventh spot to take the sixth spot. He now has 68 runs to his name at a strike rate of 174.35.
David Warner, Sanju Samson, and Jos Buttler have also dropped a place each to be number eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively while Bhanuka Rajapaksa has slipped out of the top 10. Tilak Varma, Virat Kohli, and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis continue to be in the top 5.
