The blue captain praised his teammates after showing the best candidates for the game on the biggest stage of club football
In the Champions League final Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City, Kanter performed well and Cesar Azpilicueta called him the best midfielder in the world.
The France international has added club football’s greatest honour to a series of successes including winning the World Cup, the Europa League and the Premier League. He has achieved success in both the Blues and Leicester City.
In addition, he won the best player of the game award for the third time in a row in the Champions League in Porto, as Chelsea achieved a second success in a famous European competition.

“It’s very simple, yes [he is the best in the world],” Aspilicueta said. “He does everything. The energy he brings, I don’t know how many balls he recovered today. The way he pushes the ball forward, he covers so many fields.
“Having him is special. Of course, when we don’t have him, we will miss him. After winning the World Cup and now the Champions League, he is still so humble as a person.
“I am happy for him. He is an important part of this team. I am very happy to have him by my side for several years.”
