The 21-year-old scored the biggest goal of his club’s career in Porto, helping to justify his huge transfer fee.
Chelsea striker Kay Haverts said that after scoring the Champions League winning goal against Manchester City on Saturday, he did not “express doubt about his worth”.
The German international completed a long pass from Mason Mount at the end of the first half, bypassing Edson, and then into the empty net.
This goal will persist in a 1-0 victory, helping to justify the £70 million ($95 million) transfer fee Chelsea paid for Haverts last summer.

Haverts last season
Haverts faced criticism during his debut season at Stamford Bridge because he often tried to justify his huge transfer fees.
The German international played an important role in his first season in the Premier League but did not provide the same number of goals as he did in Germany.
Despite this, Havertz has scored 9 goals this season, and his final blow is by far the most important-and to some extent justified his price tag. He also resolved injury issues that could make him regress midway through the campaign.
