Melanie Martinez is a singer who had a fame from the season 3 of NBC’s The Voice. She has been accused by a former friend of sexual assault. Also, she has made a fairly horrendous statement after her former friend, Timothy Heller, publicly accused her of rape.

While the alleged incident was detailed by Timothy Heller, herself an aspiring musician, who, in a four-part tweet, recounted a night during which she “repeatedly said no” to Martinez’s sexual advances. Heller accuses Martinez of forceful penetration with a sex toy, among other acts.

In a post uploaded to Twitter on Monday, Timothy Heller, 22, accused her former friend, Melanie Martinez. She posted the tweet just before 3 p.m. local time. Within eight hours, it was retweeted more than 50,000 times. Both of them appear to have a friendship that dates back to 2015, judging by images on social media platforms.

In this post, she concluded with the statement of “If you begin to doubt the abuse taking place in this story, I beg you to image her role in this being a man. Girls can rape girls. Best friends can rape best friends. Friendship does not equal consent. Silence doesn’t equal consent. I wish it wasn’t so hard to convince myself of these things.”

Martinez also took her Twitter and posted. In that post, she said that “She never said no to what we chose to do together.”
